Remember Lot’s Wife and Other Unnamed Women of the Bible. (faithQuest, an imprint of Brethren Press), 1991.
This book is currently out of print, but the stories of some of the unnamed women of the Bible appear on this website.
I am also considering revising and republishing the original book, perhaps as a shorter series of ebooks. If this interests you, please send me a message through my contact page.
Given the wealth of names recorded in the Bible, it’s all the more striking to discover how many names are missing from its pages, particularly the names of women. In the biblical genealogies, for example, women were regularly omitted as part of the patriarchal tradition. In other places, women are mentioned but unnamed. Like Lot’s wife, some of the unnamed women of the Bible played a relatively small part in the biblical story. Like the unnamed young Miriam, some changed history. Like the poor widow at the temple treasury, some were never identified to the biblical writers.
Remember Lot’s Wife and Other Unnamed Women of the Bible includes the stories of fifty unnamed women of the Bible, how their stories connect with our stories today, plus suggestions for journalling, small group discussion, and further reading.
