Hope Beyond Our Sorrows Now Available

Two weeks ago, I was still reeling from the news that my publisher’s entire shipment of Hope Beyond Our Sorrows: Learning to Live with Life-Changing Loss had been lost in transit.

This week I received the happy news that the books have been re-printed and are now in stock at my publisher’s warehouse! Hope Beyond Our Sorrows is now available!

What’s more, Hope Beyond Our Sorrows has been chosen as the Herald Press deal of the week at 40% off!! This offer ends July 13, 2025—check out the Deal of the Week and use the promo code WEEKLY.

For Canadians, CommonWord bookstore lists Hope Beyond Our Sorrows at 7% off. For both offers, you’ll also need to consider the exchange and shipping costs. Or order through your favourite online or local book store.

For a budget-friendly option, consider asking your local library or church library to purchase a copy. [And/or enter a draw for a free signed copy of my book by leaving a comment about why you’re interested in Hope Beyond Our Sorrows. This contest is now closed.]

Still to come: the Hope Beyond Our Sorrows playlist, gift guide, and tips for small groups.

In memory of all the losses we carry, wherever you find yourself on the journey of grief, may you also know God’s hope beyond our sorrows.

I think of the Emmaus disciples and how Jesus walked alongside them while they grieved. They didn’t recognize him but they invited him in and that is when Joy returned to them! Hope gave them a new lease on life!

    1. Thank you for that image, Elfrieda. As I think of Jesus walking alongside his disciples, I think of him walking alongside us in the griefs we bear too. May we also invite Jesus in and find hope.

  2. April, I can’t help notice the connection of your book written about loss and copies got lost. I am praying that God will reveal His incredible promise in the midst. I am praying that those lost copies will be found by those who deeply need this encouragement from Him.

    1. Yes! Life is full of loss—whether the loss of loved ones who have passed on, the loss of health, even the loss of books! Yet in the midst of loss, God remains present and at work. May God’s grace and mercy abound.

I very recently lost my one and only precious sister and her husband. They passed away within 30 hours of each other. Today a dear cousin, only 60 years of age, passed away. Doctors couldn’t find come to a diagnosis. So I really need some encouragement and comfort at this time, and hope your book will help me.

    1. Oh my, I send my condolences as you mourn the loss of your loved ones. Thank you for sharing your grief here. May God comfort and strengthen you. May the Spirit surround you with love and peace.

Loss is an experience no one escapes — and for some/ many it is completely devastating.
Thanks for addressing this issue for us.

    1. Yes, in this life, we all face loss, yet each one has a unique story and experience. I hope that by sharing some of my journey, I might also create space for others to share theirs. Together, I pray we might know the hope beyond our sorrows.

I am interested in your new book because I have appreciated your previous writings. I would read it and donate it to our church library. Thanks for entering me in your draw!
    Blessings,
    Irene

    1. You’re welcome, Irene, and what a beautiful idea to donate it to your church library. That’s a wonderful way to share hope and comfort with others.
